PITTSBURGH, PA, USA 03 Apr 2007 Industrial Scientific Corporation, a global leader in gas detection and monitoring instruments, systems and related services, announced today that it has launched the MX6 iBrid, the first gas monitor to feature a full-color LCD display screen. The MX6 is designed to detect from one to six gases including oxygen, combustible gases and up to four toxic gases.

The MX6 color display improves safety with clear readings in low-light, bright-light or anywhere in between. Whether the work is outside, inside or underground, its easy to see what gas hazards may be present in the immediate work environment. The display also supports on-board graphing and a menu-driven PEG (Portable Embedded GUI) operating system that allows the user to step through instrument functions with an intuitive menu and the instruments five-way navigation button. The MX6 also adds flexibility for multilingual and international work forces with one of eight available pre-programmed languages.

With 25 field-replaceable smart sensor options, an integrated sampling pump, and interchangeable lithium-ion and alkaline battery packs, the MX6 can be set up in over 1 million detection configurations. Such configuration flexibility allows it to measure potential hazards in any industry. The addition of a photo-ionization detector (PID) allows for the detection of the potentially unknown toxic hazards or volatile organic compounds that may exist in some applications.

The MX6 iBrid is compatible with the award winning DS2 Docking Station and iNet Monitoring Service to further simplify and automate calibration, function (bump) testing and data management. Each MX6 iBrid monitor comes standard with a powerful, 95 dB alarm, STEL and TWA readings. Its extended datalogging memory provides storage of readings at one-minute intervals for six gases for a minimum of one year. An event-logger also records the past 15 alarm events, giving historical feedback and information for incident review and evaluation.

Constructed with a combination of Lexan polycarbonate and stainless steel with a protective rubber overmold, the MX6 provides exceptional durability, immersion and RFI protection in the harshest industrial environments. Guaranteed for Life, the MX6 is powered by interchangeable, rechargeable lithium-ion or alkaline battery packs. An optional extended range Li-ion battery extends run-times up to 36 continuous hours.
